Jose Cordoba made his first public outing as a Norwich City player at Wednesday's opening training session at Carrow Road.

The Panamanian defender is the Canaries only summer signing to date, joining them earlier in the window in a £3m deal from Bulgarian side Levski Sofia. Since that was completed, Cordoba has competed in the Copa America and only linked up with his new team mates this week.

Cordoba was among his new colleagues and coaching staff at Carrow Road on Wednesday, affording the hundreds of supporters a first look at the 23-year-old.

Thorup outlined why he wanted Cordoba to join his revolution at City earlier this month in conversation with the Pink Un

"He's a very physical, very strong defender," Cordoba said. "He's good one-on-one. He's comfortable on the ball, and he dares to dribble to bring the ball forward.

"But I think both for now, but especially also looking into the future, he's a player that can be even better and perform at an even higher level than this.

"That's also important for us when we bring in players that they have a performance level for now, but also some level where we can see that they can actually improve."

Josh Sargent was among a handful of City players who didn't complete the session, but the American international was at Carrow Road. Christian Fassnacht, Liam Gibbs and Angus Gunn were also in attendance despite not participating.

Youngsters Brad Hills, Finley Welch, Emmanuel Adegboyega, Jaden Warner, Adian Manning, Kellen Fisher and others also featured as City worked on switching play before breaking off into unit work.

New set piece and first team coach Nick Stanley was also at the session having been officially appointed by the club from Premier League side Brighton as Andrew Hughes' successor. Sporting director Ben Knapper spoke to Graham Potter regarding his arrival.

They host German side Magdeburg at Carrow Road on Friday night as the second phase of their pre-season begins.
