Johannes Hoff Thorup had his say on the key issues around a 1-1 friendly draw against Standard Liege at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne on Saturday in a Belgian pre-season tour finale.

Borja Sainz put Johannes Hoff Thorup’s squad into a ninth minute lead, but Ibe Hautekiet rose unmarked to level in the 14th minute of a game played in sweltering conditions in eastern Belgium.

Grant Hanley, Kenny McLean and Marcelino Nunez all returned for their first Norwich City pre-season action of the summer, but Angus Gunn sat out the game with a minor hand injury.

Thorup spoke to the media after the game on Saturday afternoon in Liege.

Anything to report on transfers in or out?

Absolutely no idea (laughing). I just spoke to the team after the final whistle and prepared the trip home so we land in Norwich tonight and find out (laughing).

What about a set piece coach to replace Andy Hughes?

I think we’re close. Close. (Nearing a conclusion?) Well, those are your words (laughing) but I think it’s fair to say.

Adam Idah status unchanged?

Like we said from day one, he's a vital part of the group and of the squad here. Luckily, or maybe unfortunately, we have players where there's also interest from other clubs. But we should always strive to have that, that's important for us.

But Adam’s working hard in training, a good guy with good energy. He's really doing well. And I hope it's obvious for him and everyone that he will play a vital part for this team.

Angus Gunn missed this game with a hand issue but will he be back for FC Magdeburg at Carrow Road next week?

I think that's the plan and, if not next week, hopefully in the first game in Austria. He's with us down here to Belgium just to be a part of the team and can also do some stuff in gym and so on. It's not a severe injury.

What about a fitness round up of some of the other players not involved? Shane Duffy returned to England early.

No I'm not concerned but he picked up a small knock actually in one of the sessions before we came down here but he went with us and couldn't really get started in the first session so we just decided that for these players where they will not play any minutes in these games it is better for them to be back home and have even better facilities to start there to start their progression again, so they can be back as fast as possible.

(Ashley Barnes update?) Still injured and not back on the pitch yet so it will take some time. Hopefully again as quick as possible but it will take some time as he’s not on the pitch.

First minutes this summer for Grant Hanley in a Norwich shirt

He's a great personality. You see that from day one. And I'm really delighted to have him back because of what he brings to the group - both of experience but also personality – and that was clear and obvious for everyone from day one. So it's good.

"Again, it gives us more options on the positions we have. From Monday onwards (Josh Sargent and Jose Cordoba return) we have the whole squad.

Thoughts on the Liege draw and Borja Sainz's goal?

It's a good goal. It's a very good goal. It was a composed finish instead of shooting from a tight angle, then he can take the ball back and find the better angle. We should have scored more. In the first half I think we had the opportunities. Again a little about the efficiency, because I think we should have, maybe not killed the game, but had a better result going to half-time.

It was a little bit (too hot). I also think it affected a little bit the tempo and speed of the game where we tried and we tried but the closer we got to these 90 minutes it slowed down and of course it is hot out here.
