A PE teacher has raised more than £800 for charity by holding a football tournament in memory of his father.
Reece Morgan, from Dereham, was just nine when his father Paul died after suffering a heart attack at the age of 37 in 2000.
The father-of-three, who worked for Aviva, was playing alongside colleagues in a weekly Tuesday night match when he collapsed and died.
Despite losing his father at such a young age, he instilled in Reece a passion for football that has continued to this day.
Mr Morgan said: “From the moment I walked, he was kicking a ball around with me.
"We used to go to watch Dereham Town play. Dad knew the management team at the time and after he passed, they made a big effort to keep me involved.
"They would let me be the mascot and go into the dressing room before the match.”
Since 2016, he has been using football to support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by organising an annual football tournament which has now raised more than £4,500.
This year, four teams were involved in a tournament that was held at Yaxham FC’s ground in Jubilee Park.
Mr Morgan said: “It’s very much a family day out.
"The players bring their wives and kids along and have a beer between matches.
“The competition has become a regular fixture in everyone’s football calendar.
"It’s great to be able to keep dad’s memory going and raise money for the BHF as well.”
Karl Coppack, fundraising manager for the BHF, said: “We’re very grateful to Reece for all the fundraising that he has done on our behalf over the years.
“Because of his generosity, we will be able to empower scientists to look for new breakthroughs that can stop lives being cut short."
