An award-winning cafe and bistro has closed its doors in north Norfolk.

The Snug, in Lees Yard in Holt, served a mix of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and British cuisine and won a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award for receiving consistently positive reviews in 2023.

But owner Paul Rogers shared this week that it had closed for good following a period of financial hardship.

"After much soul searching and with great sadness, we’ve closed the doors to our restaurant for the final time," he wrote.

"The current economic climate is tough for everyone and, while we’ve tried to weather the storm, sadly we've been unable to beat it."

Mr Rogers thanked his "customers, friends and staff" for their "loyalty and support.

"We’ve loved every moment of our time at The Snug and are heartbroken to say goodbye," he added.

"But unfortunately we must so, until next time, we’ll enjoy the happy memories."
