A beloved seaside festival returns next weekend, marking its 25th year with a "spectacular event".

The Gorleston Clifftop Festival, originally known as 'The Gala', began in 1998 as a modest community event.

It will return on August 3 and August 4 with live music on two stages as well as a thrilling fun fair, dog show and sports displays.

Event Manager, Vicky Webber, on behalf of the committee, said: “The fact that this event is celebrating 25 years is incredible.

"When you look back at the history, it is filled with community spirit which still shines through even today.

"From the local businesses that support us, to the volunteers who help us, and everyone who enjoys the event each year, we are so grateful for all your support."

To mark its quarter centenary the festival has announced a new addition of a silent disco that will run on both evenings.

The free weekend will close at 10pm on August 4 with a fireworks display over the coast.

The festival is a community-centred event and relies on fundraising to cover the cost of hosting the event - amounting to nearly £50,000.
