An indoor plant shop is set to launch in one of the city's most popular shopping streets this summer.

B'leaf, which specialises in all things green-thumbed, will open in the Royal Arcade in August.

Started in Essex three years ago by Peter Weatherill and Claire Bright, the couple have decided to make Norwich their new home after seeing all it had to offer.

"We felt we wanted to scale up our business so Norwich, with its much bigger population and vibrant retail proposition, was a very big attraction," Peter said.

"It felt like a really good match for us and once we were shown the Royal Arcade there was nowhere else we wanted to be."

The shop, to be found in the former Ethical Hairdresser unit, will sell plants and terrariums, as well as a range of rare cacti, air-purifying and pet-friendly fauna.

Each purchase will also come with a care card with advice on how to keep them healthy.

"Indoor plants are really good for your mental health and well-being and they help to purify the air at the same time," Peter added.

"As well as looking great in your home, they offer people the feel-good factor.

"We cannot wait to get the keys to our new store and to showcase our fantastic range of plants to the people of Norwich."

Simon Ashdown, Director of LPC1 Ltd, the company that manages the Royal Arcade Norwich, said: "We're very happy to welcome Peter and Claire to the Royal Arcade community.

"The timing is perfect to open another independent store that is offering something with a difference and run by two very passionate individuals."

The news comes just days after the opening of e-Velo, a specialist electric bicycle and scooter store, in the unit opposite the upcoming B'leaf.
