A supermarket could see an increase in its EV charging substations after plans were submitted to North Norfolk District Council.

Motor Fuel Group has applied to have three charging points, with six parking lots, introduced to the Morrisons store, in Fakenham.

The plans outline how the parking lot corner closest to Clipbush Lane roundabout could be revamped.

In addition to the charging stations, the plans include a new jet wash plant room, two new covered jet wash bays and a canopy over the charging points.

There is currently only one EV charging substation at the supermarket, which supports two cars at a time, and five locations for charging across the town and surrounding area.

The next nearest charging point is Great Massingham, near King's Lynn.

Last year, the government announced a financial boost to increase the infrastructure that supports electric vehicles across Norfolk.

The county was one of 16 councils to receive money from the government and the EV industry to give electric car drivers more charging points

A decision is expected on the Fakenham scheme in September.
