A car crashed into a food trailer on the north Norfolk coast at the weekend causing "absolute carnage".

Joely Carter owns Birdys Bakehouse at Blakeney Quay, which offers hot and cold drinks, cakes, burgers and loaded fries. 

On Sunday at around 3pm, she was cooking on the fryer when a car crashed into the trailer on the side where she was standing and boiling oil flew out.

Mrs Carter said: "The crash caused damage to the outside but mainly caused absolute carnage inside.

"I have got some oil burns but other than that myself and my staff seem to be okay - just a bit shaken up."

Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene and while no one required transport to hospital, Mrs Carter was given gel pads for the burns.

Norfolk Police has also recovered the vehicle.

Birdys Bakehouse was back open on Monday after the team spent many hours clearing up.
