An equestrian centre in north Norfolk has been granted permission to add a shop and café to its grounds.

Lime Kiln Farm Equestrian Centre's application to have a single storey front and side extension to one of its main buildings has been approved by North Norfolk County District.

Lime Kiln Farm, which is located in Thursford, has been running since 2008.

As a family-run business, it provides facilities for local and regional equestrian communities and competitors in show jumping, dressage and showing.

It also hosts the North Norfolk Dog Agility Group, who regularly train at the centre.

The application outlines the showground's intention to use the space for a shop, café and viewing area.

Briningham Parish Council submitted a question regarding whether the proposed development would be open to the public or only attendees to events at the grounds.

It was confirmed that the new facilities would only be open "to competitors and spectators on competition and clinic days".

Vertex Architecture Ltd submitted the application on behalf of the applicant, Mr Lee, in late March.

While the application was approved, Martyn Fulcher, director for place and climate and change and acting under delegated authority on behalf of the council, outlined a few conditions in addition to the approval.

One condition stated: "Within three months of the date of this permission, the vehicular access shall be upgraded across the frontage of the site."

Stewart Damonsing, a business development officer, also submitted a comment regarding the economic impact the new building would bring.

Mr Damonsing said that the proposal would introduce an additional commercial element to the business.

He said: "Therefore, there are potential economic benefits that would be derived by this application, in particular the creation of permanent jobs."

No objections were submitted to the application's portal.

The applicant has three years to complete the development before the approved application expires.
