The landlords of a village pub have decided to step back and close its doors.

In a statement shared to social media on Monday evening, the team behind the Kings Head at Belton confirmed they were closing the venue with immediate effect.

"This is a heartfelt message of thanks and gratitude to all of our customers who have supported us during our time at the Kings Head.

"Regrettably the business is not financially viable and therefore we have made the difficult decision to close with immediate effect and leave the pub this Friday, July 19."

They added they hope Stonegate will be able to find a new publican soon.

The Kings Head reopened under its current management in February this year.

They had worked to revive the venue, installing a new pool table, darts board and function room.

A full food menu offering pub classics, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and burgers had also been on offer.

The team will still be pulling pints at their other venues - The Bell Inn, Priory Farm Restaurant, The Waveney Inn and The Plough at Blundeston.
