Two royal visits planned for Norfolk have been cancelled as the Princess Royal continues to recover from a head injury.

Princess Anne was scheduled to appear at Brancaster Station in north Norfolk on Thursday, July 18 as the Royal Patron of the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI).

The Princess was also supposed to be visiting the Citizens Advice Norwich at The Forum, as Patron of The National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux on the same day.

Linda Lawrence from the NCI said it is hoped the royal visit will be rescheduled for the autumn.

Princess Anne, 73, spent five nights in hospital after she was believed to have been struck by a horse while out walking on June 23.

On Friday, Princess Anne returned to public engagements with a visit to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

It is understood that the visit on Friday was the first step in a phased return to public duties as she continues her recovery.
