A section of the A47 was closed in both directions on Monday evening due to a vehicle fire.

The Acle Straight was closed while fire crews tackled the fire on the road near Halvergate.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue were called to the incident at 5.30pm.

Footage shows white smoke billowing from the car as a firefighter attempts to extinguish the flames.

It is unknown why the fire started but an eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, said it sounded like the vehicle had exploded.

The road closure caused heavy traffic.

Contractors were called to resurface the road which reopened when the work was completed just before 3am.
