The A1065 runs from Mildenhall in Suffolk to Fakenham in Norfolk, with plenty of top-notch restaurants along the route.

1. Brandon Tandoori

Where: 17 London Road, Brandon, IP27 0EL

This Indian restaurant and takeaway opened in 1991 and it has stood the test of time for a reason.

The menu includes biryani and tandoori dishes, with an extensive range of vegetarian and vegan options.

2. Azure

Where: 17 High Street, Brandon, IP27 0AQ

A much newer addition to Brandon, Azure opened in January 2024 and the menu includes steaks, burgers and fresh seafood. 

For customers who aren't driving there is a range of cocktails, with some served inside real fruit like pineapples, coconuts and watermelons.

3. The Swan Inn

Where: Brandon Road, Hilborough, IP26 5BW

This traditional inn boasts 13 bedrooms and a restaurant serving hearty pub classics and a Sunday carvery.

It is great for dietary requirements, with a separate gluten-free menu and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

4. Shelly’s Bistro

Where: 5 London Street, Swaffham, PE37 7DD

A friendly welcome is guaranteed at Shelly's Bistro in the heart of Swaffham, which was named the nation's best café/bistro at the Food Awards England 2023.

It also hosts special events, such as steak nights, and the courtyard recently had a jungle-themed makeover.

5. Red Lion

Where: 87 Market Place, Swaffham, PE37 7AQ

This award-winning bar, restaurant and hotel in Swaffham serves pub classics, sandwiches and Sunday roasts.

It also hosts live music and quiz nights and is family-friendly, with a cheaper children's menu.

6. George & Dragon

Where: Swaffham Road, Newton by Castle Acre, PE32 2BX

The kitchen at this 18th-century pub with rooms is run by Fanny Adams Catering, who also have a street food trailer. 

The menu includes burgers and a range of sharing dishes, with roast dinner platters served on Sundays (pre-ordering essential).

7. The Copse Restaurant

Where: Raynham Estate, East Raynham, NR21 7EE

Just off the A1065, The Copse is located in the picturesque parkland of the Raynham Estate and the building is clad with estate-felled wood.

It offers pop-up dining experiences, featuring top chefs, and it launched in July with George Wood of Brix & Bones in Norwich.
