A Go Outdoors study has named Norfolk one of the best places to go camping in the UK in 2024.

The county was named the country's second-best destination behind Cornwall.

To gather the results researchers first compiled a list of the most popular places to go camping.

They then compared them based on factors such as the number of campsites in each area and the average cost of the campsites.

They also looked at TripAdvisor reviews and compared the quality of the campsites' facilities and the range of activities in each place.

Each location was given a score out of 10 based on the findings.

Norfolk scored 9.56 out of 10 - just short of Cornwall's winning 9.98.

East Sussex came third with a score of 9.12.

A spokesman for the firm said: "Norfolk is an excellent camping destination due to its stunning coastline, diverse wildlife and rich history so it is no surprise that it came second in the ranking.

"Campers can explore the beautiful beaches, nature reserves like the Norfolk Broads and historic sites such as Norwich Cathedral and Sandringham Estate.

"The region offers a variety of outdoor activities, from hiking and cycling to birdwatching and kayaking, in a peaceful and family-friendly environment.

"With a range of camping options, Norfolk provides a perfect escape for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike."
