The latest Norfolk additions to The Good Food Guide are a French bistro and a pub with rooms.

L'Hexagone Bistro Francais in the Norwich Lanes was opened by couple Thomas Aubrit and Gemma Aubrit-Layfield in 2020, who take care of the cooking and front of house respectively.

The Good Food Guide said: "He cooks the food he remembers eating as a child with heartfelt honesty, while she runs the place with instinctive charm, and with a small supporting cast they prove the old trope that the best things often come in the smallest packages."

In 2022, the restaurant received a glowing review from renowned food critic Jay Rayner in The Observer.

Also newly added is The Gin Trap Inn in Ringstead, a pub with rooms near Hunstanton, which was awarded three AA Rosettes for culinary excellence earlier this year. 

Its chef patron Gareth Rayner was named 'Chef of the Year' at the Norfolk Food and Drink Awards 2023.

The Good Food Guide praised his "robustly flavoured, skilfully balanced cooking".
