A Bradwell woman has found a new lease of life - and can wear her wedding ring again - after losing weight.

Candy O'Connor is celebrating after shedding four stone and 10 pounds in seven months.

Following a routine health check in November, she knew that she needed to make changes.

“I didn’t like what I heard and this made something click in my mind. I had been suffering from awful acid reflux which was keeping me awake at night so was always tired," she said.

"I would take my dogs for a walk and would become breathless after a very short distance."

Mrs O'Connor said she felt ashamed as she had previously been so active and now was working from home near Great Yarmouth - which wasn’t helping either.

"I felt in a bit of a spiral and also found myself making excuses to not go out of the house with friends and family," she said.

Mrs O'Connor had lost weight successfully twelve years ago and had relocated to the area following the pandemic.

“I decided to join my local Slimming World Group as I knew it would work for me and I went along to the group in Gunton for support.

"Kevin the consultant was so welcoming and I found the whole group so friendly, there was no judgement or humiliation."

Prior to joining the group, Mrs O'Connor lived on frozen pizzas, takeaways, crisps and cakes - but now she cooks from scratch.

"I love making my favourite beef curry with rice and Vietnamese pork and egg fried rice."

She is also enjoying being active again, walking a lot more with her dogs and attending a weekly Zumba class.

"I have so much more energy and I feel great," she said.

I have dropped several dress sizes and enjoy clothes shopping again - plus my wedding ring fits me again.”

Mrs O'Connor, who has trained as a Slimming World consultant, will be bringing a new group to Bradwell on Mondays from July 22 at Mill Lane Community Centre at 7pm.
