An open day at a former RAF station has drawn around 1,500 visitors.

The event hosted at the Grade II listed RAF Station Headquarters at RAF West Raynham showcased a mix of entertainment and educational activities, appealing to both families and military history enthusiasts.

Highlights included aircraft displays, military vehicle exhibitions, hands-on simulators, and children's zones.

Visitors learned about military history through interactive exhibits, demonstrations and the viewing of aviation heritage collections.

Classic cars, arts and crafts, a children's fun zone, and live music were among the myriad of attractions.

The Charities Zone was significant, with various military charities explaining their roles in supporting veterans.

The annual open day aimed to increase engagement with veterans and the community while giving attendees an enjoyable and enlightening experience.

West Raynham SHQ runs public events and is open to the public every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday between 10 to 3.

Future events include the American Military History Day on August 18, Battle of Britain History Day and Cream Tea on September 22 and Ghostly Airfields and Superstitions on October 27.

Veterans Central aims to provide a welcoming environment for service personnel and veterans, hosting regular activities such as monthly Veterans Breakfasts and drop-in sessions.

It also encourages involvement from veterans, dependants, and anyone interested in learning about military history and contributing to the community.
