A community group is fighting social isolation with a new project offering men the chance to collaborate and contribute locally.

The Men’s Shed in Pulham St Mary, initiated by South Norfolk District Councillor Clayton Hudson, provides an avenue for men to partake in community efforts.

Mr Hudson said: “There were lots of men in the Pulhams who wanted to get involved in local projects, but they didn’t know where to start.

"The Men’s Shed gives them an ideal opportunity to work together to make a difference to the local community.”

Already boasting 34 founder members, the group secured a Go For It Grant from South Norfolk Council and raised £3,000 independently.

Plans are in place to fundraise an additional £15,000 for a new Shed at South Green Recreation Ground.

Mr Hudson said: “There are a lot of men within the local area who have retired but still have a lot to give.

"This project is bringing us together to create something that will not only benefit the men taking part, but also the wider community.”
