A personal trainer who grew up on a Norfolk farm has converted part of it into a gym.

Anna Spratt launched Farmyard Fit in 2020 when she repurposed an old stable on her father's land into a gym facility.

After a successful first few years, she is now expanding to open an all-weather outdoor workout space on the same site in Dereham.

Ms Spratt will use the outdoor gym for classes and one-to-one sessions, substituting traditional gym equipment for farm resources such as tractor tyres, straw bales, wheelbarrows and chains.

“We all know about the positive effects exercise has both mentally and physically - but often the surroundings in which people choose to train are neglected,” she explained.

“I want to offer people an opportunity to escape the commercialised gym environment and instead experience a unique fitness setting with an added rural twist in one of the most beautiful parts of Norfolk.

“When people train and exercise, I want them to see how much better they feel because of the fresh air and their surroundings.”

Ms Spratt hopes these good feelings will be emphasised by the sense of community people feel at her gym.

“Another core focus of Farmyard Fit is enabling people to train with others and work together to push each other through a workout,” she said.

“I want to build a diverse membership with people from all walks of life in the local area with everyone from housewives and teachers to rugby players training alongside each other in a community that helps members feel comfortable pushing their limits.”
