A man has appeared in court accused of raping a woman described as "extremely vulnerable".
Glen Savage, 51, of Clarendon Road in Great Yarmouth, did not enter pleas to two counts of rape between June and September 2023.
He is already facing two allegations of assaulting the same woman in incidents said to be witnessed by members of the public in Great Yarmouth town centre in December 2023 and March this year.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told it was alleged he was the man seen punching the woman to the face, while on another occasion a concerned passer-by had filmed an assault in which the woman had been hit by a man wielding a stick.
Anna O’Brien, prosecuting, said the complainant had complex learning difficulties and was very suggestable.
District Judge Elizabeth Harte committed the rape charges to be joined with the assault offences at Norwich crown Court with a preliminary hearing scheduled on July 18.
She remanded him to remain in prison.
