An event in Norfolk has been named one of the UK and Ireland's top 10 ways to celebrate the 2024 summer solstice.

The Guardian has included Hunstanton's annual "gong magic" session in its round-up of the best ways to celebrate the longest day of the year, which falls on Thursday.

The summer solstice is widely celebrated because it is the day the Earth is closest to the sun, which people of spiritual beliefs treat as a time to celebrate nature, balance and renewal.

The "gong magic" event has been running for 10 years and offers a sound bathing session on the sand.

Sound bathing is a form of group meditation where participants lay on mats on the floor underneath blankets while the organisers create sounds with gong magic and other instruments.

The sound vibrations are said to realign the body's water molecules and chakras.

The event can be found on the dunes off Sea Lane in Old Hunstanton, directly behind the Mariner Inn and starts at 7pm.
