Go Ape founder Tristram Mayhew, whose first adventure park was on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk, has been recognised in the King's Birthday Honours.
Tristram Mayhew - whose brother Jerome is hoping to be re-elected as MP for Broadland and Fakenham - was made an MBE for his services to young people and youth empowerment.
Mr Mayhew co-founded Go Ape, which opened its first outdoor activity centre at High Lodge in Thetford Forest in 2002.
The businessman served as a tank and infantry commander in the British Army’s Royal Dragoon Guards, retiring as a captain at the age of 29.
He and his wife Rebecca set up Go Ape in 2002, with the Thetford Forest park expanding to 37 across the UK.
Mr Mayhew said his MBE was a reflection of the people who do voluntary and community work, as they "put years and years on the front line, and don’t get the recognition".
His brother Jerome joined Go Ape as a director in 2006 and was its managing director from 2009 to 2018, before stepping down to become a Conservative MP.
