Five people have been arrested during a police crackdown in Great Yarmouth.

Three of the drivers were arrested for immigration offences and two for drug driving during the action day on Monday.

Ten vehicles were seized as part of the operation and 23 traffic offence reports were issued by the Roads and Armed Policing team.

Operation Foxtail was launched to target drivers using counterfeit documents.

A total of 53 vehicles were escorted to a designated check site by officers, involving colleagues from Operation Moonshot (the ANPR team) and the Community Support Team.

One of the drivers arrested for drug driving was also found to be using false plates.

PC Joshua Preston of the Roads and Armed Policing team said: “This was another successful day in Great Yarmouth.

“The day was very effective, not only disrupting crime on the road network but also taking people without a driving licence, or a roadworthy vehicle, off of the road.

"These individuals put other people at risk and should not be on the road in the first place.

“We will continue to run Operation Foxtail action days to disrupt organised crime and promote road safety.”
