A town's public loos have now re-opened - with a charge of 20p to spend a penny.

Swaffham Town Council has reopened the public toilets near the bus station after new doors were fitted.

But it said in a statement: "Due to the increase in vandalism, and the cost of repairs from the public purse, Councillors decided in June 2023 to control access by installing a coin and contactless 20p entry fee.

"This decision was taken after discussions and recommendations with other district and town councils in the UK. The revenue received will be invested in the upkeep and future upgrades of the public toilets."

Both toilets are accessible, equal to all and available 24 hours a day.

The council added the toilets are cleaned and monitored on a daily basis.
