Customers at a Norfolk pub were shot at by a gunman from a nearby building, before storming the property and disarming him.

The drama unfolded at the Crown Hotel, Watton, on Friday night, after a man was thrown out of the pub.

Two drinkers were shot with a BB weapon - one of them requiring hospital treatment for a head wound - before the locals were able to bring the situation under control.

The man had been ejected from the pub shortly before the shooting started, after drinkers accused him of trying to rob people in the town earlier in the day, using a BB replica gun.

But as landlord Kris Moore was escorting him out, the man pulled the gun on him and his partner, Sherry Lavin.

Another man in the pub rugby tackled him to the floor, knocking the gun from his hands.

Mr Moore restrained him before gathering the gun from under a table and locking it in the pub’s safe.

The man staggered off but returned ten minutes later, demanding the gun back.

He was again forced out by a group of regulars, before retreating back to a flat next door where, moments later, he open fired on people outside the pub, which had about 30 customers at the time.

Around half a dozen shots were fired and two men were hit.

Four men who were friends with one of the men who had been shot then stormed the flat and wrestled a BB replica shotgun from the man.

They took it back to the pub and it was locked in the safe with the other gun.

Police arrived at the scene at around midnight, with around half a dozen vehicles lighting up the town’s High Street.

Officers went to the flat and arrested the man, taking other BB firearms off him.

They are still investigating the incident and want to hear from witnesses.
