A woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a tractor at a family attraction yesterday.

The ambulance service was called to Wroxham Barns, in Tunstead Road, Hoveton, just before 12.30pm on Saturday after reports a woman had been hit by a tractor.

The incident happened during the first day of this weekend's Meet the Farmer event which saw farmers from across Broadland bring their machinery on-site for demonstrations and educational talks.

There was also a tractor and trailer ride transporting guests to the Meet the Farmer field.

An eyewitness said the woman had been riding the tractor with her young child.

One ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for Wroxham Barns said: "Yesterday’s event was organised by Wroxham Barns and the Wroxham Bure Valley Rotary Club with all proceeds going to the Norfolk and Norwich SEND Association (Nansa) and The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

"The Rotary Club and Wroxham Barns are taking every care and are reviewing all operational matters to ensure visitors of today’s event will be safe."
