A Norfolk church has been awarded a hefty grant for its historical conservation project.

North Runcton Parochial Church Council (PCC) has received £45,185 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for its 'Georgian Gem' scheme.

The preservation plan includes comprehensive restoration work on All Saints' Church, which dates back to 1720.

This will remove its 'at immediate risk' status on the Historic England At Risk Register.

Ken Matthews, a churchwarden, said: "North Runcton PCC are absolutely delighted to receive this award thanks to National Lottery players.

"All Saints’ is a Grade I listed building and it is very timely that we can make urgent progress towards the conservation of this 'Georgian Gem', celebrating its heritage for all in our community."

The funding is intended to advance the project in preparation for a later application for a more extensive restoration grant.
