Drivers are being warned of a 64-mile diversion as a week of disruption begins on the A11.

The roadworks mark the beginning of phase four of the National Highways work on the major road.

The disruption will run along the Attleborough bypass between the Quidenham and Besthorpe Parish ​boundaries.

The closures will run in three phases.

On May 2, the A11 southbound between Thickthorn and Attleborough will be closed between 8pm and 6am. 

On May 3, there will be a full closure of the Spooner Row southbound slip road until mid-summer.

On May 4 and May 5, the northbound lane between Attleborough and Thickthorn will be closed from 8pm until 6am.

An official 64-mile diversion route has been put in place to take drivers from Attleborough into Thetford, Swaffham and Easton before looping back to Wymondham.
