A man who was convicted of stalking created new social media profiles to allow him to continue contacting his ex-partner, a court has heard.

Danny Clarke was sentenced at Norwich Magistrates Court after admitting to stalking offences relating to his ex-partner.

Clarke, of Lynn Street, Swaffham, continued to make "unwanted and unwelcome" contact with a woman he had previously shared a relationship with.

The court heard Clarke had sent numerous emails to his ex following the breakdown of their relationship, while also making contact with her sister.

It also heard he had registered new social media accounts to re-open contact with her and was caught on Ring doorbell putting letters through her door.

James Landles, for Clarke, said his clients intentions were not to "cause distress", but were motivated by hopes of "rekindling the relationship".

He said: "It was not his intention to cause distress - there was nothing in the body of the emails to suggest this was his intention."

Sentencing Clarke to a 24-month community order, magistrates ordered the 34-year-old to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
