Ukrainian flag flies in Hunstanton to mark war anniversary.

Hunstanton Town Council commemorated the second anniversary of Russia's war on Ukraine last weekend by flying the Ukrainian flag at the Esplanade Gardens.

Mayor Cllr Michael Ruston said: “As we mark the second anniversary of this conflict, we continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Ukraine and reaffirm our commitment to those fleeing the conflict in their homeland, as we do every day.

"I would personally like to thank local voluntary and community organisations working with refugees arriving from Ukraine for welcoming and supporting their needs."

Cllr Ruston said the flag was raised on Saturday to "send a clear message of support, especially to those Ukrainians who have chosen to make our community their home in the past year."

Amidst the ongoing war, there is an increasing demand for places of safety as initial sponsorship arrangements come to a close.
