Two new flats could be built behind a former town centre toy shop.

West Norfolk council has received an application to part change the use and extend the rear of the building on Norfolk Street, in King's Lynn.

The Grade II listed building formerly housed The Entertainer toy shop, before it moved to larger premises nearby.

"The proposal seeks to provide two one bedroom flats with associated kitchen and dining areas to the ground floor all within the existing footprint of the structure.

"The proposed flats are modest in scale and will fit comfortably within the site."

The statement adds the new flats will use "modern, efficient materials and sustainable principles throughout".

Measures will include air source heat pumps, insulation and low-energy light fittings.

It concludes: "The approach that has been taken is to provide a high-quality compact pair of flats which utilises an efficient use of the site whilst also providing much needed one-bedroom worker accommodation."

A decision is expected later this year.
