An XL Bully owner had appeared in court over an incident that saw neighbours attacked by his dog called Bandit.

Mason Fake, 20, faces four charges including two of being the owner of a dangerously out of control dog following an incident in Horsford on September 9 last year.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told two female neighbours had been attempting to intervene in an alleged domestic incident when they were set upon and injured by the dog which had been unrestrained at the time.

Fake, of Thomas Way in Horsford, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address but did not enter pleas to any of the charges.

He is also accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.

Hannah Butler, prosecuting, said it was alleged he had grabbed a woman by her throat and in doing so degraded her by putting her face into dog faeces and urine.

Magistrates sent the case to Norwich Crown Court, with a first hearing set for March 21, after saying it was too serious for their powers.

Fake was given conditional bail not to contact any of the alleged victims.
