Police have confirmed they believe a burglary and attempted burglary in a rural village to be linked.

In the first incident, thieves broke a window and stole cash, clothing and other stock from a business on Rumburgh Road, between Bungay and Halesworth.

It was believed to have happened between 6pm on February 11 and 7:30am on February 12.

While in the early hours of February 12 at 1:20am police received a report of an attempted burglary by two masked men at a farm in Rumburgh.

Police have said CCTV footage shows two males looking around and behaving suspiciously before fleeing the scene in a two-door silver Mercedes.

A spokesman said: "Officers believe the incidents could be linked.

"If anyone has any information or saw anything then please get in contact.

"The crime reference number for the burglary is 37/8112/24 and for the attempted burglary is 37/8044/24."

Locals have expressed shock that their otherwise safe village has been targeted.

A man, who lives in Rumburgh, said: "I am glad police have confirmed the incidents could be linked as it is something we in the village had suspected.

"We don't ever have any issues here so it very much is the talk of the village as we are all shocked and concerned."
