A pub frequented by Royals and celebrities has got the go-ahead to use a field as an overflow car park despite fire fears.

West Norfolk councillors have agreed the Dabbling Duck at Great Massingham can use nearby land for extra space when its car park is full.

It comes despite objections from neighbours and "significant concerns" expressed by the parish council.

A report to the council's planning committee said the field would only be used when needed and fire extinguishers would be installed along with 'no smoking' signs.

It added: "The additional car parking proposed may have some wider benefit to Great Massingham by removing cars from the adjacent highway and may also provide some minor economic benefits to the business itself."

Members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, have been seen dining at the pub, while Sir Alan Sugar and TV weather presented Lucy Verasmy are also among its fans.
